Our Community at Heart

Fall River Health Services is excited to relaunch our volunteer program! Join the volunteer program at Fall River Health Services. It is an amazing opportunity to serve our community and The FRHS Organization. Your services are vital in greeting the public, directing patients and visitors to various departments within the hospital.

Help us in spreading joy and comradery to our residents in Seven Sisters Living Center! Your interaction with the residents will brighten their day, create meaningful relationships, and make an impactful difference in their lives.

Requirements for Volunteens are as follows:

Must be at least 16 years of age, parental consent form is required for volunteens under the age of 18.
Complete an application/interest form located on the FRHS website.
Interview with volunteer coordinator (Human Resources Manager).
A background check must be completed for volunteers over the age of 18.
Provide COVID 19/Influenza vaccination record or complete declination form.
Comply with volunteer philosophy.
Complete HIPAA Compliance Training.

Requirements for Volunteers age 18 and older:

Complete an application/interest form located on the FRHS website.
Interview with volunteer coordinator (Human Resources Manager).
A background check must be completed. Volunteer applicants must complete a background check form. A satisfactory background screen must be received prior to starting the volunteer program.
Provide COVID 19/Influenza vaccination record to complete declination form.
Comply with volunteer philosophy.
Complete HIPAA Compliance Training.

All volunteers and volunteens will complete a general orientation and tour of the facility. FRHS may do some screening of an individual to ensure they can physically perform volunteer activities.

Volunteer Philosophy

Guided by Fall River Health Services values of caring, respect, integrity, collaboration, and excellence, it is the mission of every FRHS Volunteer and Volunteen to provide the highest level of support, assistance, and compassion to all patients, residents, staff, and visitors. In whatever capacity or role a Volunteer serves, he or she will demonstrate professionalism and kindness to reflect FRHS's dedication to quality patient care.

List of Activities as a Volunteer/Volunteen:

Wash windows
Provide manicures
Assist with clerical tasks including answering the phone
Play a musical instrument
Sing to residents/lead sing-a-longs
Play cards
Escort residents to clinical appointments
Set/style hair
Lead a Bible study
Help in the dining room during meals
Decorate for Holidays
Mend clothing
Distribute mail
Help assemble puzzles
Disinfect wheelchairs and other equipment
Put on a play
Escort residents on a walk
Play Bingo/Be the Caller
Bring a pet to visit (prior approval required and proof of current vaccinations)
Hand massages for the residents
Read to residents
Help write letters
Ask a resident to teach you a skill
Set up/clean-up for special events
Visit with residents and listen to their stories
Lead special interest groups
Transport residents to meals and activities
Help with crossword puzzles or word searches
Shine residents' shoes
Decorate bulletin boards
Help with worship services
Assist with craft projects
Escort residents outdoors in pleasant weather
Document life stories
Greet visitors to the facility and help direct them
